Marketing Manager

Downes Construction Company, an Employee-Owned Company (, a leading construction management / general contracting firm, is seeking a Marketing Manager with 7+ years of experience. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, the successful candidate will develop strategies for and manage all external and internal company communications in support of the company’s business development effort. Qualifications and proposal responses, client research, public relations, publicity through digital communications, trade events, and networking within a deadline-driven environment.


  • Managing the preparation and submission of proposals and presentations from initial stage to final delivery to ensure a quality product;
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and Project Executives to implement successful proposal strategies to win new project assignments;
  • Provide day to day supervision of Marketing/PR Coordinator and assist in providing them with professional growth and development;
  • Oversee the management of database & other information relative to the proposal process;
  • Collaborate with VP of Business Development to identify, research, and track leads and opportunities;
  • Oversee the creation, preparation, and review of customized responses to RFPs and RFQs, including government forms;
  • Ensure a consistent appearance and style for all marketing communications, including project descriptions, qualifications, proposals, resumes, and brochures, including managing the layout and design of marketing collateral;
  • Assist in the planning and execution of employee engagement pursuits and activities / events;
  • Lead marketing and advertising efforts, develop annual campaigns in collaboration with business development, coordinate, author, and distribute press releases;
  • Develop content for social media with support from marketing coordinator;
  • Attends networking events on behalf of the firm when appropriate


  • 7+ years of related marketing and proposal experience; A/E/C industry experience is a plus;
  • BS in Marketing, Communications, English, Graphic Design, or similar required;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Adobe Acrobat/Reader, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, Constant Contact;
  • Strong interpersonal skills required;
  • Effective time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deliverables;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and editing skills; Active listening and follow-up skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities; and
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment with multiple concurrent deadlines.
