ECSU Goddard Communication Building

This 80,000 sf renovation, of two separate building wings, has upgraded the University’s Communications and Health/Physical Education programs. As the State of Connecticut’s Construction Administrator for this project, Downes was on-site protecting the State’s interests and acting as a facilitator and resource for the Construction Manager. 

The buildings renovation included nine new classrooms, two conference rooms, high-tech media / television and broadcasting area, a performance lab for Kinesiology, and several video recording observation rooms for the Psychology department. 

Full upgrades to HVAC and Electrical systems, elevator replacement, elevator replacement, exterior windows, doors and storefronts occurred. Minor interior space modifications, and updates to interior finishes throughout, and toilet room renovations completed the project. 

The building was designed to High Performance Building Standards (HPBS), LEED Silver equivalent.
