The Aquatic Rehabilitation and Fitness Center was constructed for the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, Connecticut. There were two pools constructed; one for therapy and the other a fitness pool. There were three locker rooms: a men’s locker room, ladies locker room and a family locker room with a state-of-the-art fitness center. Special handicap ramps and motorized lifts are used in the pool to facilitate handicapped patients. The therapy pool, fitness pool, exercise space, and modern patient care and support areas are highlights of this facility.
The HVAC system utilizes the pool water for heat and cooling permitting the system to run more efficiently, and special acoustical ceiling panels were used to improve the acoustics of the pool area.
