This project consisted of a new one-story addition to the existing Hospital for Special Care facility. An additional seating area was added on for the Hospital’s cafeteria, a walkway which connected the existing facility to the new addition, and the new Neurobehavioral Unit. The cafeteria addition and the walkway equated to approximately 1,350 sf of new space. The new Neurobehavioral Unit was built to accommodate up to 15 live-in patients, each with a private room, and the program areas necessary for the staff to successfully care for their special needs patients.
The new construction consisted of cast-in-place concrete foundations, concrete slab on grade (with Barrier-1 add mixture for moisture/pH mitigation), cold-formed metal framing, brick and CMU veneer, aluminum framed windows and storefronts, EPDM roofing, gypsum drywall, architectural millwork, acoustical ceilings, and MEP systems.
