Downes Construction acted as Design Builder for this new 18,000 sf Fire Station for the Long Hill Fire District in Trumbull. As an all-volunteer department, their previous building was inadequately sized for today’s apparatus.
The new state-of-the-art facility houses three tandem apparatus bays, kitchen, bunk area, and locker room to accommodate 12 firefighters on a daily basis. A community/meeting space for internal and public use, a decontamination and storage room, as well as the district office, is housed in this new facility.
Demolition of the existing fire station occurred upon completion of the new facility.
