The Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London, Connecticut has been dubbed America’s finest small art museum. The eleven acre verdant property offers views of the Thames River and Long Island Sound. The original Deshon Allyn house sits on one-rise, while the museum, constructed in 1930, sits on a second plateau sharing views of the grounds.
Downes Construction Company used its experience from major projects at the New Britain Museum of American Art and the Wadsworth Atheneum to successfully renovate the facility.
The work included a series of renovations, deferred maintenance tasks, site improvements, and a new high density art storage system.
