Downes was selected by the City of Hartford to “renovate as new” the historic M.D. Fox Elementary School. Originally constructed in the 1920’s, the historic structure will undergo major restorations as the project is revitalized. The interior was entirely renovated with careful attention to restoring the original historic features such as window millwork and stained glass.
Construction work included hazardous material and environmental abatement, partial building demolition, site work, ADA accessible issues, building envelope and structural upgrades, technology, food service, science laboratories, library/media center, nursing/health services, and various aspects of mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
This project is LEED Gold certified.
