Downes was hired as Owner’s Project Manager for the RiverTech High School at Goodwin University project. Our role on this project has included education specification preparation for filing with the State Department of Education, schedule development, budget development, RFP preparation for project architect, consulting engineer and design professionals, and more.
The new RiverTech High School will serve approximately 288 students in grades 9-12. The school will provide a unique environment where students can apply learning to real world community-based problems. The school will have four focus areas: Automation, Smart Factory-Industry 4.0, Production/Fabrication, and System Integration. Small instructional spaces for specialty services like speech and language, social worker, psychologist, and special education will be provided.
In addition, RiverTech High School will also include a cafeteria, library, theater, gymnasium, an astronaut training center, industrial shops, technical classrooms, computer labs, and a cybersecurity “war room”. The students will have a variety of studies based in business and entrepreneur curriculum.
Students will engage in hands-on learning experiences, including paid internships and apprenticeships, to prepare them for careers in high-tech manufacturing and related industries.
