How has being an employee-owner changed your perspective?
I have been a part of this Family Owned Business for the better part of 8 years before becoming an Employee Owned Company has allowed me to grow immensely as an effective communicator and constructor. Downes Construction has always felt like a second home, whether its living on a jobsite or at the office pulling projects together to their ultimate success. The extreme ownership of becoming an ESOP in 2019 allowed not only for the family aspect of the company to grow exponentially, but it has also provided each individual employee further motivation and satisfaction in knowing their roles have a direct positive impact to their specific future goals that directly corelate to the success of this company. The open atmosphere of communication, education on quick adaptations to a constant changing industry and the well-being of goal oriented career paths has lead to direct prosperity of this company where each employee realizes the ownership of their endeavors.
This is what has propelled Downes Construction Company to be as successful as it has been for over 90 years.
