Downes was selected as the Construction Manager for the Wheeler Middle/High School renovation. This project consisted of a new 44,431-square-foot, two-story addition, along with renovations to the existing 25,889-square-foot gymnasium.
This renovation and addition address health and HAZMAT concerns and updating technology, security, and safety issues.
Students now benefit from enhanced security features, including upgraded entry doors, as well as modern, touchscreen smartboards. The upgraded science labs allowed the school to expand its curriculum to include AP Chemistry. Improvements also expanded into the music and athletic spaces, with updates such as the locker rooms, bleachers, a fitness center, and a dedicated training room within the gymnasium.
